John Schultheiss and wife April Ridi both dreamed of moving to the Caribbean for many years before actually doing so. In 1994, the right opportunity presented itself. They left their jobs, and found themselves in the British Virgin Islands, owners of a small Italian Restaurant called Spaghetti Junction.
After more than eleven years in this tropical paradise, John & April are still totally in love with what they do, and where they live. After all, what is there not to enjoy; whether it's hiking through Sage National Park Rain Forest, spending the day at one of the many beaches in the BVI, or just relaxing for the afternoon during a leisurely sail to one of the many surrounding islands.
Of course we can't forget how much real enjoyment John & April get just from going to work. Meeting regular customers and friends from Tortola, and from around the world, and making new acquaintances almost daily as word of Spaghetti Junction and The Bat Cave continues to spread, is incomparable in any other business, as far as they are concerned.
April spends all her time at work ensuring that Spaghetti Junction customers get the friendliest welcome, best service, and most delicious food anywhere in the British Virgin Islands.
April's restaurant staff works hard to keep up the twelve year tradition of being the best. Five-year Spaghetti Junction veteran Shibon Guy helps April train & supervise the service staff at Spaghetti Junction. Shibon, Fabian, Belkis, Kemeshia, and Beneida work as a team to provide the excellent service that our customers have enjoyed throughout the years.
Although John seems to reap the benefits, being named BVI's 2004 Restaurateur of the Year, everyone knows that it is April's high standards and hard work that keeps Spaghetti Junction on the top of everyone's list of places to eat in the BVI.
Along with great Italian food, Spaghetti Junction also serves up some outstanding wines, having also walked away with the BVI's Best Wine Cellar Award for 2001, 2002 and 2003. Spaghetti Junction was also chosen 2004 "Hospitality Business of the Year" by the BVI Chamber of Commerce and Hotel Association.
John & April are proud to say that it's the combined, talented efforts of a "family" of people from around the world that makes Spaghetti Junction and the Bat Cave the success that they are. A collage of cultures and backgrounds including Canada, Tortola U.S., Jamaica, Dominica, St. Lucia, Dominican Republic, Trinidad, Germany & Guyana.
John, as General Manager, supervises the overall operation of the business. Talented bartender, entertainer, comedian, host, Christian MacDonald looks after the increasingly popular "Bat Cave" bar, lounge, pub, nightclub - truly 'Tortola's hottest night spot'!
Christian is joined in the Bat Cave by fellow Canadian Melanie Jones (Mel) who helps provide the best possible service and some great conversation.
From nice and mellow Happy Hours (daily 5 - 7 p.m.) where you'll hear some great jazz and blues music on the superb sound system, to jammin' and rockin' the night away to great dance music from the sixties to the present, you'll find people of all ages, from all walks of life, from all over the world, enjoying Mel and Christian's hospitality and fine food and drinks.
